{"id":2138,"date":"2016-05-19T11:32:52","date_gmt":"2016-05-19T11:32:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/projectmarta.com\/about\/"},"modified":"2026-08-05T00:03:33","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T00:03:33","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/projectmarta.com\/en\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Project Marta \u2014 Monitoring Art Archive was conceived by Benedetta Bodo di Albaretto and brings together professionals specialising in complementary areas of contemporary art.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its dynamic, modular <a href=\"#team\">Team<\/a> works to improve the knowledge, conservation and development of artistic heritage by combining documentary research, restoration, installation, handling, legal protection and digital tools.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"why-us\" class=\"wp-block-group alignfull has-bianco-color has-teal-background-color has-text-color has-background has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why us<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The idea of the project has been defined over years of experience in contact with contemporary artistic production, considering some important shortcomings encountered by different operators in the conservation system. The integrity of the artworks, in time and with transport, can be undermined by multiple factors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some examples:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a tendency to move contemporary art often, without the necessary precautions or suitable packaging;<\/li>\n<li>installation in poor environmental conditions, in both public and private spaces;<\/li>\n<li>inappropriate handling of artworks;<\/li>\n<li>improvised maintenance methods.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other issues relate to the intrinsic nature of the artworks, which are made with unusual materials that do not have an established treatment protocol. Such materials are often borrowed from fields outside the traditional artistic ones, such as industry and beyond.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"the-method\" class=\"wp-block-group alignfull has-linea-background-color has-background has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The method<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Project Marta aims to improve the possibilities for conservation of artworks by multiplying \u2014 in a shared perspective \u2014 the knowledge about their creation, the materials used, and the studies already carried out on them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Project Marta uses the direct interview with the artist as a fundamental tool to gather all the information needed to deeply understand each artwork and to install it, preserve it, transport it and pack it properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Read more<\/summary>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through the interview it is possible to explore the meaning and the research process behind the artwork, to record the features of its compositional elements and to clarify the relationship between the artwork and the viewer. The interviews can be accompanied by video documenting the various life stages of the artwork \u2014 creation, exhibition setup, packing and unpacking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The interview model follows a basic standard, complemented by additional questions developed on the basis of research into the artist&#8217;s career, experiments and comparisons with material already gathered by Project Marta.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The data-sheet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The final product of Project Marta is a technical data-sheet (text + optional video) that, describing the whole life of the artwork, enables a comprehensive knowledge of the methods of maintenance, installation and handling. He collaborated with the Aconerre snc company for the restoration of the Tornacoro in the Cathedral of Milan, intervened in the restoration of the apse of the Cathedral of Pavia and in the dome of the Church of Santa Maria dei Miracoli at San Celso in Milan. He works on works by Anselm Kiefer, Pinot Gallizio, Lucio Fontana, Carol Rama, artists of poor art, in particular Piero Gilardi, Pino Pascali, Giulio Turcato and many other Italian and foreign artists. He works in situ on contemporary murals, installations and public art. He deepens the study of works on textile support through targeted refresher courses with P. Cremonesi first and R. Wolbers then, with which he begins the journey on the contemporary.
