Artwork certification and provenance
Project Marta has collaborated with Tagsmart since 2019. Since 2021, clients have been able to access Tagsmart certification directly through Project Marta: a complete artwork-protection service combining secure physical DNA tags, online provenance records and professionally issued certificates of authenticity.
One secure place for every certificate
Certificates of authenticity can be created, managed and shared digitally. Artists, galleries and collectors retain an organised record of each artwork and its provenance, helping the work remain identifiable throughout future transactions and ownership changes.
DNA artwork tags
Tagsmart uses synthetic-DNA tagging and additional security features designed for application to a wide range of surfaces, from paper to aluminium. The system was developed for the art world and reviewed with conservation requirements in mind.
Integrated with the Project Marta data-sheet
The certification service is available at a preferential rate when combined with the Project Marta technical data-sheet. The data-sheet records the artist’s intentions, materials, installation requirements, handling, transport, maintenance and conservation needs; Tagsmart adds a further layer of authentication and provenance protection.
